Abernethy and Gaudin Boatbuilders Ltd. is a high quality shop located in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, Canada. They specialize in wooden new construction as well as restorations and custom interiors. Fish boat conversions and classic power boats are prime candidates for their traditional 30 tonne ways.

Abernethy and Gaudin was formed in 2000. Originally the owners Rob and Jean opened a shop in a renovated barn, before moving to Brentwood Bay, BC in 2002. A larger shop and a set of ways allowed them to grow and accommodate their customers better. Currently, Abernethy and Gaudin employ a team of 6, all specializing in various trades related to boats and boatbuilding.

Applegate Boatworks
After over twenty years of local business in Oregon -Applegate Boatworks, (a Mom & Pop Business) is offering plans for the backyard boat builder. The first designs in a line of over twenty are now available. Boat builder John McCallum has created small boats with beautiful lines reminiscent of traditional work boats and ancient craft from all corners of the world. Each boat has been painstakingly researched and developed with an eye on the past and a view to the future of wooden boat building. Our experience has proven the modern materials of plywood, epoxy and fiberglass tape to be the best way to create a beautiful and useful small craft.

All our plans include a materials list and basic building instructions but we assume that the backyard builder has basic skills in the use of small hand tools, power tools and woodworking methods. Some competitors plans show only the lines and measurements of a boat but offer no order of assembly or hints. We offer more but the plans are not a whole course in boat building.
